Ewing, Anne Helga (nee Fedko)

(1954-2024)

In loving memory of Anne Helga Ewing (nee Fedko), affectionately known as Annie to her friends and family, passed away peacefully at 69 years of age on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at Health Sciences North in Sudbury, Ontario. Born on July 10, 1954, in Toronto, Ontario, to Rosemarie Ella Fedko (nee Knoche) and Andryj Fedko, Annie's warmth, creativity, and love for the natural world touched all who knew her.

Annie dedicated nearly three decades of her life to enriching the community through her work at the Toronto Public Library. Joining as a Senior Library Assistant in 1983, she served until her well-earned retirement in 2011. Retirement saw her embracing life in Elliot Lake, Ontario, where she continued to explore her passions and engage with the world around her.

A gifted photographer, Annie had an unparalleled ability to capture the beauty and essence of nature and wildlife. Her love for art and art history was profound, reflecting her deep appreciation for creativity and expression. Annie's imaginative mind and creative spirit were evident in everything she did, leaving a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to experience her work and her company.

Annie's passion for the beauty of the Canadian Rockies, Hawaii, and her love for travel spoke volumes of her adventurous spirit and appreciation for the Earth's natural wonders. Her musical tastes were eclectic, enjoying all genres of music, which resonated with her universal love for art and expression.

Annie held a special fondness for dragonflies, butterflies, angels, and fairies, symbols of transformation, beauty, and the mystical. She also believed in the healing powers of crystals, embodying her deep connection with nature and the universe's energy.

Preceded in death by her loving parents, Rosemarie Ella Fedko (nee Knoche) and Andryj Fedko, Annie leaves behind a legacy of love, art, and inspiration, cherished by many. Annie is Survived by her daughter, Emily Ewing (Brian); her sister, Eva Pellow (John); her brothers, Alex Fedko and Roman Fedko (Marika); and her dear friends, Lana and Beth, among a host of family and friends who were enriched by her presence.

As we remember Annie, we celebrate her remarkable journey and the memories we hold dear. Her spirit and legacy will continue to inspire us all.

No service is planned. In lieu of flowers, donations in Annie's memory to Our Daily Bread Ministries Canada would be greatly appreciated.

  1. Emily, I have just come across this sad info. I am deeply sorry to read about the passing of Annie. I remember the warmth and joy Annie gave to the people surrounding her when we visited you in 1996.
In January 24 I started to research for you and your family as I wanted to get in contact with you. I only found info in an annual report of the Birchmount neighbourhood center about Marika but have not gotten any feedback from them.
It would be great to hear from you. If you like you can contact me at Lydia.waldmann@gmx.net or on Instagram Whattewer1980 (I am blonde now)

  7. Extending our sincerest condolences to you Emily and Brian, as well as your mum’s surviving siblings and family in Germany. Sadly, her deteriorating health cut her life short, but I will never forget those early years and exciting trips to the US in the ‘57 Chevy wagon, our fun-filled teens and sharing the joy of parenthood. May your spirit never be forgotten..:
