It is with profound sadness that the family of Dwayne William George Brown announces his passing after a sudden illness at age 73 years. Dwayne will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife and best friend Betty Ann, his sons Jeremy (Alana) and Tyler (Julie), and his grandchildren Ezra and Daxton. He will be missed by the many friends he made over the course of his life, especially those made playing poker and working on rib-fests. Dwayne was born on June 28, 1947 to Stella (Stolar) and William Brown, predeceased, and was brother to Bryan, predeceased. He enjoyed cooking, playing poker and spending time with the family, especially cherishing the time he spent with his grandchildren. He also loved to travel, especially to Texas as a snowbird. Dwayne was a man of many talents, who had a number of interesting careers over the course of his life: musician, salesman, business owner, entrepreneur. Even in his later years, he found a new business path and started a new venture, his rib-fest tornado potato shop, Twisted Taters. Dwayne was a man of great charisma and enthusiasm, who always loved making people laugh. His family would like to thank the staff at Health Sciences North for the excellent care he received. In keeping with his wishes there will be no service or visitation; instead, a Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.
We have just heard the terrible sad news Dwayne so sorry for your loss

My sincerest condolences go out to you, Betty Ann, and the whole family. I did not know Dwayne for a long time but I did consider him a good friend. He spoke highly of you and the rest of the family. We had many a wonderful conversations while we set up for rib fests and when we were able to chat on the phone and I will miss that dearly. My thoughts are with you in these times

My heart goes out to you Betty Ann and to your family. Dwayne has been part of our downtown family for so long I don’t remember when we first met. We’ve been through a lot with different events and he was always there to help us with our branded ‘swag’ and words of encouragement. There is a hole that has now been left that will not be easily filled. We will miss you my friend xo

My deepest condolences to Betty Anne and family. I am saddened by this news and I will miss the many visits to my office over the years talking about signage, branded marketing items, the Downtown Sudbury Ribfest and the many other topics that came up. Sorry Betty Anne but as you know Dwayne’s visits were never short as he always had a funny story or jokes to tell and inevitably you would have to call him on his cell and ask him where he was. Rest in peace my friend and I will miss your humour and your sage advise. Ribfest and the many other Downtown events just wont be the same.

I was both shocked and saddened to learn of Dwayne’s death. I have known Dwayne for many years both through his many and varied business ventures, but also as a sports enthusiast especially an avid Sudbury Wolves fan. I found his openness to try new ventures inspiring. I hold Betty Ann and family in my thoughts and prayers as you journey this dark road into your future. Many blessings.
