Richer, Robert “Bob”

It is with heavy hearts that we must announce the passing of our beloved Robert “Bob” Keith Richer. Bob was taken from us too soon, at the age of 49, in Sudbury Ontario on August 5th, 2020. Born on July 10th, 1971 in Sudbury Ontario to Olive Tessier (Norm) and Paul Richer (predeceased). Bob lived most of his life in Hanmer and graduated from Confederation secondary school. Along with Kim Richer (Bill), Bob welcomed two daughters, Jessica Richer (Tom) and Breanna Richer (Keegan), whom he was exceedingly proud of. His girls are an extension of him, from resemblance, to their sense of humour, to their compassion and their love of rock music. They will remember him as a cool young father. Bob was the last to arrive in a family of ten children: the baby. He leaves behind his siblings Don Thibert (Donna), Louise Marks (Dave), Raymond Richer (Diane), Wilfred Richer (Monique), Lynn Larochelle (Claude), Gerry Richer (Jen), Paul Richer (Lorri), Helen Emslie (Gene) and Joey Richer. He will be fondly missed by more nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins than one can imagine. Bob was larger than life and had immense love for his family and friends. He was beyond hilarious and could bring joy to any room with a single smile.  He loved the band Kiss and classic rock in general. If you visited him, you could expect a fire with cold drinks, a radio blasting, and a stomach-ache from laughing so hard. He was a very talented handyman, who one day hoped to start a general contracting company, “Bob the builder”. His tragic death leaves behind hundreds of people to mourn. Following cremation, Bob will be interred next to his father, Paul, at St. Jacques Cemetery in Hanmer, Ontario at a date yet to be determined, along with a small family gathering. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Canadian Mental Health association or the Sudbury Mental Health and Addiction center in Bobs' name.

  1. Bob is certainly missed for his sense of humour who thought it was funny to sneak up to me in his Santa Clause suit. He loved his girls and family and helped his friends when he could. Love to the family.
