In loving memory of the late Gladys Violet Syvanen (nee Stenroos) who passed away at her residence on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at the age of 87. Beloved wife of the late Mertsi Syvanen (predeceased in 2005). Loving mother of David (Wendy Moxam) and Brian. Cherished grandmother of Sara (Trevor), Karl (Lyne), Kyle, Kaitlin (Jesse) and great-grandmother of Harry, Violet, Laci and Laila. Special aunt of Litza Crowder (Dennis). Gladys was born in Port Arthur, Ontario to John and Judith (Helin) Stenroos. She worked as a Secretary during her working career with Kormac Lumber, Neeley’s Van Lines and the Taxation Department for a combined 35 years of dedicated service. Gladys was one who enjoyed being outdoors and could be found at Lake Penage fishing or spending long summers at the Cottage on Lake Manitou for over 32 years. She was blessed with a green thumb and loved her flower gardens, reading romance novels and adored Finnish baking and dishes. In keeping with Gladys’ wishes there will be a private family service.
We are so sorry to hear of Gladys’ passing. She always had a smile on her face whenever we spoke. Clayton, my husband worked with Gladys at Neelys many years ago and always spoke highly of her.
