It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Mark Forest, 64 years old, on Sunday, February 21, 2021, at his residence in Hanmer, Ontario. Beloved best friend and partner of Helen Rouleau, cherished son of Gerald Forest and Marie-Ange Forest, born Dupuis, (predeceased). Mark was a loving father of Robin (Sarah) Forest, Alex (Rachael) Forest and Benjamin (Kariane) Forest, caring stepfather to Lauren (Norm) Geddis and Tiffani (Andrew) Hall, doting grandfather to Olivier Forest (Robin and Sarah) and Colton Geddis (Lauren and Norm), and father figure to Brittney Rouleau (Braden Lampkin and their son Owen). Mark is leaving behind his siblings Monique (Grant) Duncan, Colette (Ivan) Duchesne and Claude (Sheila) Forest and many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. The first chapter of his life started in Sudbury, Ontario, where he formed lifelong friendships. He moved to Ottawa to study at Carleton University in industrial design – his dream career. Following his studies, Mark raised his family in Ottawa and went on to have a rewarding career in his field. He worked for multiple organizations including DND and Canadian Bank Note, where he designed anything from bubble gum machines to parachute packs – which he was crazy enough to test himself. Though serious and quiet, Mark was not short of energy. He kept active and would always be around to support his loved ones. Mark dedicated tireless hours to his favourite place in the World at his Frenchman Lake Residence where he hosted a multitude of events to gather family and friends and sit near the crackling fire singing Who wants to live forever (Queen). Mark is now at peace and reunited with his life partner Beverly Forest (predeceased). The Forest Family would like to thank all those who participated in making Mark’s life healthier and more enjoyable in his journey. Due to public health concerns and regulations, a celebration of Mark’s life will take place in the near future once feasible. Memorial donations in memory of Mark can be made directly to your local food bank, in lieu of flowers, to ensure social distancing takes place.
Robin, Alex and Ben, our deepest sympathies to you and your families. To Lauren, Tiffani and families, we send our condolences. To the remainder of Mark’s family, his Dad, siblings and cousins we send our sympathies. We knew Mark as a caring, thoughtful and generous person . John and I will be forever grateful to Mark who married, loved, laughed with, and cared for my sister Bev during her long battle with breast cancer. A lesser man would have ‘cut and run’ when Cancer reared it’s ugly head. Mark was always supportive of his “boys” and step “girls” in whatever situations they found themselves. Gone too soon at 64….

I have had the privilege to be a part of Mark’s family for a couple of years. From day one, Mark made me feel accepted and welcomed. We stayed overnight at his place and at camp often, and I never felt out of place or like I didn’t belong. He loved his children so, so much. He was so proud of all of you and just wanted you to be happy and well. I am grateful that I got know him and to have been part of his life. I will cherish all the great memories I have of him. My most sincere condolences to all the family. All my love to Robin, Alex, Benjamin, Lauren and Tiffani.

Mark was one more of the family cousins who added to the joy in all of our lives. He welcomed the cousins to Frenchman Lake, as his father and mother had done. His smile and laughter will never be forgotten. Our deepest condolences to his family and friends. We will be thinking of Gerry.
