It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Merrill James Bertrand on Friday, December 10, 2021 at Maison McCulloch Hospice, with Family by his side.
Son of the late Edward Bertrand and Patricia Landry. Beloved husband of Gabrielle (nee Foisey) Bertrand of 57 years. Loving father of Nicole Bertrand (predeceased) and Marc Bertrand (Cindy). Dear brother to Joan McGuire (Willie predeceased), Lois Chaput (Kenny), Dennis Bertrand (Shirley) and Loyola Bertrand (Monique). Cherished grandfather of Melissa Bertrand (Joe) and Christy (predeceased). Very proud great grandfather to Jackson and Charli.
Merrill started his employment with Falconbridge in 1968, where he worked until he retired in 1998. He was a passionate union steward always willing to fight for the rights of his peers.
He loved life, his family and his friends. He enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid blueberry picker. He enjoyed sports, playing games, new challenges, and was always there to lend a helping hand. His jokes and kind heart will be forever missed.
A special thanks to all the amazing staff at Maison McCulloch Hospice for their loving care and support.
At his request, there will be no visitation or service. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Donations to the Maison McCulloch Hospice would be appreciated.
