Rohde, Marja-Leena

February 28, 1945 - January 25, 2022

Marja-Leena passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, with her loving husband of 50 years, Wolfgang Rohde, by her side. She will be deeply missed by her sister-in-law Aira Vanttinen and nieces: Carol (Brian) Haley, Lisa (Chris) Schroer of Sudbury and Gabi (Jorg) Neuman of Germany, as well as great-nephew and niece: Brett and Emily Schroer. She also leaves behind extended family in Canada, Finland, and Germany. Special thanks to her good friend Arvo Liinamaa who was always ready to lend a helping hand. Marja-Leena immigrated to Canada from Finland in 1957 along with her parents Aili and Tauno Vanttinen, and brother Martti Vanttinen (all predeceased). She will be fondly remembered for her generous spirit, love of life, and finnish "Sisu" (determination). She was a fabulous cook who created wonderful memories at gatherings for friends and family at her home on Long Lake. Her thoughtfulness and kindness will always be cherished. As per her wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
