It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the peaceful passing of Maurice (Doc) Gaudette on Thursday, November 03, 2022 at Finlandia Village at the age of 91. Predeceased by his parents Adrien and Agnes Gaudette (née Rivard). He leaves behind the love of his life and wife of 69 years, Gertrude Gaudette (née Gauthier). Beloved father of Mickey, Marc (Donna) and Robert (Laura). Cherished Pepere of Bryna (John Patman), Dexter (Laura), Christian (Cynthia) and great grandfather of Ellis, Merrick, Owen, and Cydney. Predeceased by his sister Vivian (Aime Barbe). He will be missed by many nieces, nephews, and friends. Maurice worked for INCO for 36 years as a millwright and achieved his goal of being retired for longer than what he worked. He always supported and encouraged his boys’ playing hockey whether by coaching or shoveling the community outdoor rink. He also spent hockey season cheering on his beloved Montréal Canadiens and wasn’t shy of an opinion about how they were playing. Maurice was his grandkids’ #1 fan. He travelled throughout Ontario, Québec and to PEI to cheer them on for hockey and curling. Doc loved a good party and often entertained by singing a tune. He spent his summers at Maple Lake - his happy place. The grandkids have fond memories of spending time at camp with Mimi and Pepere. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at The Walford and Finlandia Village. As per his wishes there will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers donations can be made directly to Autism Ontario https://www.autismontario.com.
