Lacko, George

In loving memory of George Lacko, 72 years, who passed away peacefully on Monday, October 17, 2016 after a short battle with cancer at Health Sciences North, Sudbury.  George was born in Fort William (now Thunder Bay) on December 21st, 1943.  Beloved husband to Helen Lacko (nee Yawney) for 49 years. Loving father to Lisa (husband Farron Wallace) of Nanaimo, B.C. and George Jr. (wife Shelley) of Sudbury. Adoring and very proud grandfather of Brady, Gracen, Hayden and Jacob.  Dear son of Jacob and Johanna Lacko of Thunder Bay (both predeceased). Brother to Frank (predeceased), Rudy (wife Kris) Lacko, Laura Booth (predeceased), Jackie (husband Bill) Exell and Doreen Macko (husband Ron predeceased) of Thunder Bay. George had a great sense of humour and a passion for sports.  He was very athletic and instilled his love of sports to his children and grandchildren.  He loved playing tennis and golf with them and spent many hours at Pine Grove Golf Club. George began teaching when he was 18 years old and retired after 36 years. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.  A Memorial Mass to celebrate George's life, will be held at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 1887 Bancroft Drive, Sudbury on Friday, October 21st, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Donations to the Covenant House would be greatly appreciated.

    We were so sorry to hear the sad news of George’s passing. He was a great guy and a good friend.
