Gaudette, Gertrude (née Gauthier)

It is with great sadness the family announces the peaceful passing of Gertrude Gaudette (née Gauthier) on Saturday October 21^st ,2023 at Finlandia Village at the age of 91.  Daughter of the late Léo and late Albina (née Barbe) Gauthier. 

Gertrude is now reunited with the love of her life and husband of 69 years, the late Maurice Gaudette.  Beloved mother of Mickey, Marc (Donna) and Robert (Laura).  Cherished Mimi of Bryna (John Patman), Dexter (Laura), Christian (Cynthia) and great-grandmother of Ellis, Merrick, Owen, and Cydney.  Dear sister to Don Gauthier (Nancy), Jeannette (late Steve Harapiak), Louise (John Savoy), and Nicole (Gerald Lacarte).  Predeceased by siblings Colombe (late Roméo Duhaime), Annette Rivet, Diane (late Raymond Houle), Michèle Paterson, and Victor Gauthier.  She will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Gertrude worked as the secretary for Notre-Dame de la Merci and St. Pierre elementary schools for many years and was a beloved fixture greeting students at the door every morning.  She was an amazing cook and baker making her famous recipes a staple at many family gatherings.  During the winter months, you could find Gert in the stands cheering on her boys and grandkids at the hockey or curling rink.  Her summers were spent at Maple Lake – her happy place.  Mimi once said she was fortunate her and Pepere truly enjoyed their grandchildren, and the grandkids return this sentiment.  Bryna, Dexter and Christian have fond memories of spending summers at camp with Mimi and Pepere. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at The Walford and Finlandia Village.  As per her wishes, there will be no visitation.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made directly to Autism Ontario https://www.autismontario.com.
