The family announces with deep sorrow his sudden passing at home on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at the age of 69. Beloved husband of Diane (Labelle) and loving, proud father of Scott. Dear son of the late Gerard and Lilian (Charette) Boulet. Dear brother of Jeannette, Jackie (Ron), Robert (Mary-Anne), and Rachel (Roger). Dear brother-in-law of René (predeceased), Sue (John), Marilyn (Andy predeceased), and Brian (Gaetanne predeceased). Treasured uncle to many nieces and nephews.
A longtime resident of Hanmer, Richard was enjoying his retirement after a long career in banking. He was an intelligent man, a kindhearted soul, and a devoted and loving husband and father. He always said, “his most precious gift in life was his son”. They truly were best friends. Richard and Scott were Sudbury Wolves fans and attended almost every game. They also enjoyed trying out different foods and restaurants together.
Richard loved family gatherings and telling stories…lots of them! He also enjoyed having friends over for snacks and wine, more stories, and was the mastermind of many practical jokes.
He was an avid reader, enjoyed documentaries, movies, music, remote-controlled car racing, and loved all motor sports.
Richard liked a strong cup of coffee and he had quite the coffee and mug assortment. He was known to bring his cat Pixel (who he affectionately called “Princess”) along for morning coffee runs. He loved going out for coffee with his brother and always looked forward to the next time.
Richard leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and laughter. He will be dearly missed!
There will be no visitation. A Celebration of Richard’s life will be held at a later date. Donations in his memory can be made directly to the Maison McCulloch Hospice.
Diane , Scott and the Boulet family !
Our deepest condolences; our thoughts and prayers are all of you during this difficult time. I got to work with Richard for 11 years at the Caisse Populaire St. Jacques; he was such an understanding and compassionate person.
May he rest in peace.

First of all, I would like to extend my deepest sympathies
to Richard’s family and closest friends.
Rick and I attended MacDonald-Cartier High School
at the same time. We were in many classes together but
the one that I remember the most was Music class with
our teacher, Dick Perras.
One year, we formed a Rock & Roll tribute band called
Diek The Shiek and the Greaseball Boogie Band. Rick
of course played the saxophone and starred as the girl
“Laura” in a comedy skit of the song “Tell Laura I Love Her”.
The last time that I had the pleasure of seeing Rick was
when our Showband, Spectacle performed at the Imperial Room at the Royal York Hotel in Toronto in 1981.
What I will remember most about Rick was his Big Smile
and incredible sense of humour. Over the last few years,
we began talking on the phone at least once every six months.
We reminisced about the old days at MacJac and talked
about politics and music for hours.
Rick had posted a comment about one of my Youtube videos.
He said that he always enjoyed my music, my sense of humour and that he considered me a friend.
I believe that one of the greatest compliments that one can
pay another is to call him “Friend”.
Richard, I considered you my friend and will miss you my Friend! It was a privilege to have known you.
Till we meet again,
Pierre Chalifoux
