Cheguis, Walter Brian

Walter Brian Cheguis was born on July 24, 1941 and passed quietly in his sleep on Monday, February 05, 2024.  Walter is survived by his wife Diane, his two children Tammy, and Brian (wife Denise), two grandchildren Sam and Katelynn and his grand-dog Buddy.

Walter was a loving and dedicated family-man, he and his true love Diane would have celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary this year.  Walter was a career Conservation Officer with the Ministry of Natural Resources, which was his dream job.  Walter consistently put others before himself and was quick to lend a helping hand to those who requested it.  His laugh was infectious, and he was always ready to spread the laughter.  He will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends.

The family requests that in lieu of sending flowers to please consider donating to the Turtle Pond Wildlife Center (turtlepondwc@gmail.com) and/or the Ontario SPCA Sudbury & District Animal Centre (https://ontariospca.ca) on behalf of Walter Cheguis.

  4. My sincere condolences to Walter’s family. I knew Walter for many years both as a Conservation Officer and friend and I have fond memories of him. In his role as a C.O., Walter was an exemplary role model. He has joined his C.O. partner Michel Picotte. I can see them and their smiling faces patrolling together in Heaven.

  10. Diane, Brian, Denise, Katelynn, Tammy & Sam — thinking of you at this time of sorrow. Walter was a very caring, loving and ‘funny’ man. He was always good for a chuckle and will forever remember the times we spent together. The smile on his face says it all. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal but love leaves a memory no one can steal, Love & blessings.
