Messier, Lise (née Martineau)

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother/Grand-Maman (Mama-Lisa), on the evening of February 07, 2024, at the age of 85 following a courageous battle with cancer and with loved ones by her side.

Lise is predeceased by her husband and true love of her life Ernest Messier and siblings Arthur Martineau, Jean-Guy Martineau, Marcel Martineau, Robert Martineau, Lucille Bouchard, and Gisele Desrocher.  She is survived by siblings Lucien Martineau (Carole), Nicole Desautels (Gilles), and Normand Martineau (Jackie). Lise leaves behind her beloved children Diane Laramée (Denis), Suzanne Fournier (Paul), Joe Messier (Karen), and Michelle Messier (Phil). Grandmother to Danny Gibson, Dave Gibson, Tina Laramée, Sylvie Brice, Lucie Ritchies, Brigitte Lacelle, Kyle Messier, Tyson Messier, Chelsea Messier, and great-grandmother to Mylaine, Isabelle, Martine, Penelope, Jensen, Miles, Aliza, Ross, Henri, Everlee.

Lise had a zest for life, was a proud, kind, and loving soul who maintained a strong will and determination in all that she did.  Being a single mother of four children, Lise ensured that her work ethics, organizational skills, and high priority of maintaining order and cleanliness in her home was instilled in her children. The lengthy hours of phone conversations with her children will be greatly missed. In her pastime, Lise enjoyed reading, baking, singing, dancing and enjoying a glass of wine with her many friends.  She was an avid fan of soap operas to which her children can attest.  Lise loved to entertain, and her door was always open to those in need.  She was loved by many and will be fondly remembered by all those whose lives she touched.

The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to the staff and volunteers at the hospice who extended themselves beyond expectations to ensure that their mother Lise was well cared for and as comfortable as possible during her stay.  In keeping with Lise’s wishes, there will be no funeral service or visitation.  A Celebration of Life will be arranged and announced at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made directly to the Maison McCulloch Hospice https://maisonsudburyhospice.org/donate/ would be greatly appreciated.
