In Loving Memory of Elaine Pidgeon

February 15, 1951 - June 18, 2024

Our hearts are heavy as we share the news of the passing of Elaine Marie Pidgeon (née Roy), who left us suddenly at home in Sudbury, ON, on Tuesday June 18, 2024, at the age of 73.

Elaine was the beloved wife of Keith Pidgeon for 52 years, and the cherished mother of Brandee (Darren Frost), Kerry (Darlington Ibe), and Todd (Andréanne Tremblay). She was the loving sister of Robert Roy, and the dear sister-in-law of Diane Roy. She was predeceased by her sister Patricia (d. Don Snow), brother Richard, and parents Ovila and Loma Roy.

Elaine was the proud and adoring grandmother of Keith, Austin, Harrison, Adaora and Bruce, who brought her so much joy and laughter. She will also be missed by Gail, Ken, Carol, many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbours, who were like family to her.

Elaine was born in Amherstburg, and grew up in Wolseley Bay, French River, where she claimed to be a pole-vaulter for the French River District Secondary school (although no one in the family has any proof of this). She moved to Sudbury at 18, where she worked as a secretary at the University of Sudbury. She later devoted herself to being a full-time wife and mother, and a caring provider for many children at her home daycare. Elaine was a faithful and active member of St. Andrew’s the Apostle church, where she sang in the choir and volunteered as the baptism coordinator for many years.

Elaine was a warm, generous, and fun-loving person, who always had a smile and a kind word for everyone. She was known for never forgetting a birthday, anniversary or any important date. She enjoyed reading, playing scrabble and cards and spending time preparing a meal to share with family and friends.

You are invited to join the family on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Church – 1887 Bancroft Dr., Greater Sudbury for a Mass and light refreshments, to celebrate Elaine's life and legacy.

Donations in her memory can be made directly to Health Sciences North Foundation. https://hsnf.akaraisin.com/ui/donatenow/donations/start.
