Gaudette, André

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of André Gaudette Sr., on Monday July 22, 2024 at the age of 79. He passed away suddenly and peacefully at home, as he wanted.

André was born on July 3, 1945 to Eglantine (Jeanveau) and Edmond Gaudette, both predeceased. He grew up in Estaire with his siblings, Yvette, Eglantine, Edmond, Raymond, Thérèse, Aline, Isabelle, Donald, Rhéal, Paul, Linda (all predeceased). Survived by siblings, Ronald, Clair, Marguerite, and Pauline.

Beloved husband to Susan (Zubatink) (predeceased January 2016), whom he cherished and loved with all his heart. They celebrated their 50-year wedding anniversary on September 25, 2015, before she suddenly passed, and he has missed her tremendously every day since. He was heartbroken without her. André was father to André Jr, Leonard, and Nicole (Nicklasson), all of whom he loved very much. Proud grandfather to Jonathan and Peter (André Gaudette & Diane (Toulouse)), Carson and Abigail (Nicole & William Nicklasson). Great-Grandfather to Mia (Jonathan & Amy), and Charlie (Peter & Zoe).

André taught his children life skills, how to repair just about anything, how to make a “jig” for any project and was a jack of all trades. His happy place was being with his wife, at camp, gardening or playing a game of cards with family. He was a well respected and appreciated welder at Fisher-Wavy for 44 years. He was revered as the go-to welder for special projects and for training others.

Family would like to extend an appreciation for Extendicare York, 2^nd floor staff for their tremendous care and support of André in the months before his passing. Without them, he would not have made significant progress with his health and would not have been able to return home.

Friends and family are welcome to join for a Celebration of Life for André on September 21, 2024, at 1pm at the Estaire Fire Hall.
