Van Den Broek, Kelley

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our mother, Kelley Van Den Broek, who left us on August 16th, 2024 at the age of 64. She was Full of love, laughter, and resilience, she touched the lives of all who knew her. She was a wonderful mother who did her best to offer support and wisdom.

Kelley, was born on November 6th, 1960 and during childhood she went to live with her Aunt Doris and Uncle Leonard Hayes of Lively, Ontario (predeceased) they raised her and she loved them as her parents. She attended Lively high school and went to Cambrian college to study nursing. After nursing for a few years, she decided to go back to school for administrative assistant and this was a career she loved until she retired. 

Kelley leaves behind much loved partner Rick Miner and was a beloved mother of Doris (Derick) Lachapelle and Leonard (Rachel Maxwell) Van Den Broek. She was a doting Grandmother to Victoria Lachapelle, Avery Maxwell and soon to be baby Van Den Broek. A sister to Debbie (Brian) Hansen and aunt to Jim Hansen of St. Thomas.

To commemorate her life a service will be held in her honour at All Saints Anglican Church Coniston this Sunday, August 25, 2024 at 10:00am. 

We would like to express our thanks to the medical staff at Health Sciences North who cared and treated her.

  1. Kelley was my best friend during our working career at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine. We enjoyed our coffee breaks together and had each others back. She was funny, smart and caring. We met for coffee breaks at Chapters many times. She will be missed so very much. Condolences to her son and daughter.

  2. I was saddened to hear about Kelly. I worked with her for a number of years at NOSM, and she was amazing. She was fun and stood by me and for me in some critical times. Her kind generosity made a huge impact. I was privileged to know her and work with her.
