Ouellet, Ghislain

Ghislain Ouellet, 71, of St-Charles, passed away on Friday, August 23, 2024. Born on July 4, 1953, to the late Camille and the late Florence Ouellet (née Turcotte) in Sainte-Angel-de-Merici, QC where he grew up. At age 17 he left for Sudbury, where he joined up with his older brothers Maurice and Denis to make a life for himself.

This is where he met his future wife, Diane Gour. Ghislain and his wife Diane went on to have 4 children: Daniel (Jinny), Gilles, Bill (Lise), and Luc (Brit). Missed by his grand children, Alexandre, Mathieu, Martin and Isabell. Ghislain is predeceased by his brothers Maurice and Serge. He is survived by his sisters Camilliene, Irene and Gaetane, his bothers, Denis and Caroll (Linda).

In 2016, Ghislain retired after a long and hard 46-year career. He lived the best life he could. Ghislain, loved the wilderness, and outdoors. While our hearts mourn the loss, we take comfort in knowing he is no longer suffering and will be missed forever. As per his wishes there will be no visitation or service.

1 Condolence

  1. I wish to extend my sincerest condolences to Ghislain’s family for their loss. In the early 1990’s, I worked as a student in the block plant at Rainbow Concrete. This is where I met Ghislain. He operated the “Besser” which produced every possible dimension of concrete block. I was always amazed at how he would simply listen to the machine cycling and figure out the exact problem without even looking for it. We would often share hunting stories from days gone by. He would teach me the proper French terms when I asked him as I tried to build my limited French vocabulary. He seemed impressed by my efforts. He was a hard worker, and he was worked hard. Too hard. I was able to earn his respect over my three summers of slave labour alongside him, and he was a rock-solid reference for me when my recruiter reached out to him. Be at rest my friend.
