January 12 1937 - August 29 2024
Peter Kistemaker, born January 12th, 1937, passed away on August 29th, 2024 at Health Sciences North in Sudbury, Ontario at the age of 87 years old.
A man of profound faith, Peter was most known for being an active member of All Nations Church throughout his life. Religion was his cornerstone. Peter also had a deep love for reading and could often be found in a chair, lost in the pages of a book from his vast personal library. Peter also enjoyed writing and penned many articles and essays about various theological subjects. He also treasured solitude and regularly went on long walks in scenic nature.
Peter was an employee at Falconbridge for several years and later owned various properties and stayed active as a landlord. Peter was always remembered for being a generous man. He was always quick to help someone who was struggling, whether friends or strangers.
Peter was born in the Netherlands and came to Canada in the early 1950’s alongside his twin brother Anthony and other siblings - Lis (George), Joe (Jackie), Al (Sheila), Tina (Luke), William (Carol), Leo (Gundy) and Anne (Ben). He was uncle to many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his first wife, Carole Mae (deceased 1970) and his second wife of 46 years Marielle (nee Campeau, deceased 2022) and survived by his adopted daughter Jennifer (Stephan Morin, Ottawa), as well as his two grandsons, Erik and Jaden.
In lieu of donations, the family requests that you perform an act of kindness for somebody in need.
Jennifer,
We were sorry to read of your dad’s passing. He was a remarkable man. The resilience and tenacity he showed in his recovery from that accident years ago were testimony to that.
The miles he would walk was quite amazing. We would often see him walking by our house on his way to the University trail before heading somewhere else. Later on we might be out in the downtown or New Sudbury and come across him on the return journey.
You will miss him.
Sincerely,
Wayne & Nora Lea
