With great sadness, we inform you of the unfortunate passing of Claudette Guitard (née Michaud) in Sudbury on Thursday, August 30, 2024, at 84, resulting from complications related to COPD. Claudette Guitard (Mom) was born on November 6, 1939, in Ste-Rose-du-Dégelis (now known as Ville de Dégelis in Québec). Mom met Dad (Donat) at the Viau Biscuits cookie factory in Montreal in 1958 and married him in 1960. From that union came three children. Ultimately, she settled in Sudbury when Dad started his employment at Inco in 1967 (retired 1994). She rejoiced in caring for her little dog, Charlie, and being the matriarchal backbone of the family. Mothers are forever and Mom exemplified strength, courage, and kindness, leaving an indelible mark on this world. Her presence has been fundamental to our existence, shaping who we are and the lives we lead. Mom means everything to us, and her significance in our lives is immeasurable. She left on her last journey, surrounded by family members. She remained in the thoughts and hearts of family and friends unable to attend. Donat Guitard, Dad, predeceased her on June 18, 2009. Surviving her are her daughters, Monique Lapointe (née Guitard) and Lynne Guitard, along with her son, André Guitard, and his wife, Linda. She is the grandmother of Josée Lapointe, Rachelle Rainville, Christopher Marleau, Mélanie Guitard, Alexandra Charron, and the step-grandmother of Nico Vogelaar (wife Liz) and Kaleb Wasitis (wife Debbie). She is the great-grandmother of Shentel Lapointe, Katerina Lapointe, Janelle Rainville, and Dominic Rainville, and also the step-great-grandmother of Henri Wasitis, Louis Wasitis, and Gage Vogelaar. Mom will be dearly remembered by loving family and many friends. She will be sadly missed by all. In accordance with her wishes, Mom was cremated, and no funeral ceremony will be held.
Our deepest condolences to the family. I adored your Mom and Dad, and look back with fond memories of visting them with my parents.
