Theresa (Bourgeault) Bessette was born October 3rd, 1951. Sadly on September 9th, 2024 wife of Richard Bessette and mother of Natalie Bessette and Alicia (Bessette) Bertrand passed away in Sudbury, Ontario.
Theresa grew up in Hanmer with 7 sisters and 3 brothers. Her mother Isabelle and father Eugene raised her to be a strong and independent woman. She grew up on a farm and went to the local high school. Theresa enjoyed playing basketball and volleyball in her younger years.
Theresa met Richard in her mid 20s and got married on July 6th, 1974. They had 2 daughters, Natalie in 1975 and Alicia in 1977. They lived in Hanmer and later moved to Timmins. Throughout their time together, Theresa decided she wanted to learn how to be a mechanic. At the community college in Timmins, Theresa graduated being the only woman in her course. Another reason, to look up to mom for her strong independent spirit. Moving back to Chelmsford, eventually, she went on to work alongside Richard in the flooring business. Eventually, Richard and Theresa made their forever home on Downes Lake which will be cherished by our family.
Theresa enjoyed a variety of hobbies from knitting & baking to building and renovating. Theresa was a fountain of knowledge in a variety of how-to projects. She enjoyed taking on any challenge with great pride. Her pies and butter tarts were always a hit during the holidays. Mom was always just a phone call away with any quick questions about fixing something at home to how to get that pastry just right. Natalie and Alicia grew up with a mother who demonstrated the worth of knowing how to get things done on their own. Theresa is survived by her adoring husband Richard, her two daughters, Natalie and Alicia, her son-in-law Casey and grandchildren, Sera, Arianne & Brayden. She will be missed by her sisters, brother, in-laws as well as many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made directly to the Northern Cancer Foundation https://ncfsudbury.akaraisin.com/ui/donatenow/donations/start.
Nos sincères condoléances Richard, Natalie et Alicia. Love and prayers for you all. Her spirit will caring on with her most precious gems, her grandchildren. She will be missed by many and fondly remembered by our family.
