It is with great sadness we announce Claudette’s passing on Tuesday, September 24th, 2024.
She was born on November 3, 1946 in New Brunswick to parents Alfred and Merilda, (who was the love of her life) Godin.
Proud mother of Carol Nooyens, Monique St. Onge (predeceased, 2020) and Michel (predeceased, 1985). Survived by her grandchildren Wesley, Kassandra, Kevin St.Onge, Rebecca Nooyens, and her Great granddaughters, Abigail Rose. Loving sister to Claude, Diane, Jacqueline, Jacques, Nicole, Claire, Lise, Dion (predeceased). She will be sadly missed by many family members and longtime cherished friends.
Claudette moved to Minnow Lake at the age of 4, and at the age of 6, moved to Hanmer where she was raised and attended Ecole Notre Dame.
She travelled with her husband’s job to White River, Thunder Bay, Fort Frances, London and then returned home to Hanmer where she resided until her move to Finlandia Village, then to the ARCC for several months and most recently to Extendicare Countryside.
Claudette was an immaculate homemaker and a loving mother and grandmother.
Christmas at her home was like a dreamland, decorations everywhere. She had a florist business after attaining her Certificate at Cambrian College. She created beautiful bouquets for weddings, other functions and arrangements for family and friends. She also took woodworking courses at a local high school, making her own end table and mirror. Crafts were also a passion for Claudette. Wreaths adorned many doors, wall hangings, and centerpieces were a treasure to family and friends.
She also had her own daycare in her home, she loved her little ones.
Claudette volunteered at the Elizabeth Centre nursing home organizing and running the bingo for residents for many years, providing prizes to the winners from her own pocket money. She was eventually presented with an award in appreciation for all her work volunteered.
She loved to travel. The cruise she took with her granddaughter was a highlight in her life.
We will always remember her kindness, compassion, love for everyone and positive attitude even through her tough days battling cancer.
Special thanks to all the staff at the Cancer Centre who treated Claudette with compassion and encouragement, to the staff at ARCC who went over and above to make her stay with them as comfortable as possible. Bingo was arranged for her, she used her talent for crafts to help decorate the activity room, loved her time spent outside in the sunlight, thank you Rae. Thanks to Paulie for serenading her with his beautiful voice and Claudette singing in French to him. You lit up her life. Thanks to the staff at Extendicare Countryside. She looked forward to her bingo, crafts and activities arranged by Diana, you always got a smile out of her. Thanks also to Jack, her friend, who welcomed her at their dining room table.
In closing, we would like to add in Claudette’s words,
“ Well My Dears, My time Has Come” Bye Bye La
You will never be forgotten rest in peace my dear friend, Pauline, Jeanette and Denise and Rachelle I will miss my time spent with you
