In Loving Memory of Antonio Michele (Tony) Bevilacqua who passed away October 28, 2024 at Health Sciences North, Sudbury. Beloved husband of Janis Wood (predeceased 2015). Loving father of Sean Bevilacqua, Breeze, IL, D. lan Bevilacqua (Gary), San Francisco, CA, and Heather Jarrett (Craig) Orlando, FL. Dear Nono of Rain and River Jarrett. Predeceased by his parents, Pasquale and Giuseppa Bevilacqua (Ricci), his brothers Ezio (Marlene) and Mike (Barbara), and his sister Anita Thompson (Dave predeceased). He will be lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephews, especially Cathie, (Kit-Cat), and by his cousin Carlo Bevilacqua (Barb) North Bay.
Tony was born in North Bay on January 5, 1938. As his Dad was a CNR section man, the family lived at various points along the northern rail line before settling in Capreol when Tony was seven. Tony respected his Italian heritage and gained a strong work ethic at an early age. His career in open pit mining began at Lowphos Ore Company, Moose Mountain Mine, and took him and his young family to National Steel Company in Hibbing, Minnesota in 1979. Tony returned to Capreol to work as Municipal Town Foreman. Upon retirement, Tony and Jan relocated to Leamington where they remained until Janis passed away in 2015. Tony was a good athlete. He played hockey in his younger days and enjoyed a good game of golf with Jan and friends. He was a key player with the Capreol Mazzucas fastball teams, both in the field and at the plate. He liked to travel, and had a keen interest in geography, often referring to his dog-eared atlas for facts and figures. Tony had an amazing sense of humour. His family often said he did not realize how truly funny he was. He added actions to stories which he delivered in the colourful miner/railroader vocabulary so familiar to many. How often did we hear Jan say, "TMI, Tone?" Tony was a family guy who considered himself lucky to have found the love of his life in Janis. He always held his children and grandchildren near and dear. Tony lived life on his own terms; he lived long; he lived well. We will miss his presence in our lives but take consolation in the fact that there is a joyful reunion taking place with those who have gone before. We can trust Uncle Tone to keep it going until we get there. God bless!
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Idylwylde Golf and Country Club, 400 Walford Rd East Sudbury, on Thursday, October 31, 2024 from 1-3 pm.
