Armstrong, Floyd Ronald

December 12, 1937 – October 21, 2024

The family of Floyd Armstrong of Naughton is saddened to announce his sudden and unexpected passing on Monday, October 21, 2024. Our beloved father, husband, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend of many good people will forever hold a place in our hearts.

Floyd was born and raised in Parry Sound, Ontario and lived the majority of his life in Naughton. He is predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Shirley (Hamilton), parents Guy and Viola Armstrong (Crowder), and younger sisters Helen (Ron Watkinson) and Wilma (Jim Jacklin). Survived by his brothers Mervin, Don (Karen), Larry (Roxanne), Darrell (Holly) and Bruce (Daniel) and his sister Marlene Riddell (Ross, predeceased).

Floyd will be lovingly remembered by his children: Greg (Laurie) and Kirk (Kelly); grandchildren, Bryan (Cassandra), Jeffrey, Erin, Emily, and John; great grandchildren Simon and Audrey; as well as numerous relatives and friends, including his "coffee club" friends who he spoke of often.

The man loved his motorcycles, sleds, and vehicles. Keeping them clean and shiny was a top priority. He was fortunate to be able to continue to ride his sled and Harley into his early eighties. He also enjoyed the annual autumn deer hunts over the many decades - rifle and bow - with his hunting groups in Parry Sound and the groups on Manitoulin Island. There was never a shortage of venison for the table or antlers for the viewing. When not riding, he kept his yard well maintained, even as he grew more elderly. Being able to remain in his home was important to him. It was important to his sons as well because it was what he wanted, right into his final days.

Loved beyond words and missed beyond measure, Floyd’s passing has left a hole in our hearts and in our lives. He will not be forgotten and will live on in our memories.

Silver linings can disappear, but they always shine.

  1. Our sincere condolences. I just heard about your sweet Dad and Mom! So sad. We lived a few doors down from your parents for almost 18 years and we only have great memories of them. It’s was a morning ritual waving at your Dad drive by every morning, on his motorcycle. And your Mom…so gentle and caring. Big hugs to you, and your families.
