Slobodian, Dennis

1954-2025

It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Dennis Slobodian on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at the age of 70.

Born in Sudbury, ON to Nettie and David Slobodian (predeceased).

Dennis is survived by his loving wife of 47 years Donna (Davidson) and the joy of their life Josh (Bud) and his partner Elyse and her lovely children Sebastien and Norah who brought much joy to our family. Josh was often his dad’s partner in crime at hockey tournaments and sometimes he was even the voice of reason.

Sadly missed by brother Gary (Giselle), sister Sandra (Moe Bradley) who he shared many fond memories with.

Forever in the thoughts of his extended family including mother-in-law Noreen Davidson (predeceased) and father-in-law Don Pagnutti, sister-in-law Wendy (Rick Ross), brothers-in-law John (Kim) Davidson, Dan (Brenda) Davidson, Brian Pagnutti (Laura Carlson) and his predeceased in-laws Randy, Judy and Diane Davidson.

Uncle Dennis was always a favorite of his nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his nieces Amy (Beau) Frescura, Nancy (Jackson) Savignac, Steve (Lexi) Smith, Scott (Samantha) Smith, Rikki (Joel) Larcher and nephew Scott Davidson. His humor and his openness always made everyone feel welcome and wanting to come back for more. As Josh was becoming a young man, they welcomed in a new younger man into their house on a regular basis to help with the void created by Josh getting more independent. Scottie Davidson became a sidekick of both Uncle Dennis to share licorice with and Auntie Donna to shop with. It was only family who knew he was her nephew as she perceived him as their grandson.

Dennis will be missed by his aunts, uncles, and many cousins as well as friends made over many years. To say he left a lasting impression at Copper Cliff Dairy would be an understatement. He was a highly respected hard-working employee who enjoyed his time joking with the crew at work but yet always getting things done.

Dennis lived his life the way he wanted to with golf, curling and partying with his many friends. Whether it was the mini beer fests in the garage with brother Gary, Brian Marynuk, Mike Seawright and Chris Lloyd or in earlier years curling with his dad and brother Gary, Dennis certainly lived life to its fullest. More recently he wanted to show he still had golf talent on Sundays with Brian, Uncle Eddie Marynuk Sr. and Mike Rowlanson and then telling everyone all about it.  A common theme in Dennis’ life is his cousin Brian Marynuk who was more like another brother and they often could be found together in the same adventures.

The family would like to thank the amazing staff (Nurses, PSW’s, Physicians) at HSN 7th floor North for the excellent care given to Dennis. Dr. Langille was a blessing for our family in helping explain everything and following up frequently with us. We would also like to thank all the staff at the Maison McCulloch Hospice for welcoming Dennis in and ensuring he and his family had everything they needed.

The family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to the Maison McCulloch Hospice.

Please join in a Celebration of Life that will take place at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 564 located at 2200 Long Lake Road on Saturday, February 1, 2025 from 4:00p.m. to 10:00p.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ranger’s Cremation and Burial Services Ltd.

  5. My condolences to you Donna, Josh, Gary, Sandra and family.
Dennis will sadly be missed by all who knew him. We had a lot of good memories growing up together. I know that I will always remember him as we sat around his table in the garage having a couple of brew and talking about the past especially hockey and golf. When I came up during my summer vacation, he always wanted to know when so he could book a tee time. Dennis and I would play against our Uncle Don and Uncle Ed. Lots of laughs during the round and bragging rights for the winners.
    Rest In Peace my friend.
