Buschman, Antonius (Anthony)

April 5, 2025 (93)

It is with profound sadness that the family of Anthony Buschman announces his peaceful passing on April 5, 2025, at the age of 93. Anthony’s journey began in the Netherlands, where he was born to Piet and Christina. In 1958, he made the courageous decision to immigrate to Canada with his young family, embarking on a new chapter that would be defined by love, passion, and adventure.

Anthony is survived by his beloved sisters in the Netherlands, Joopie, Bertha, and Cory, and was predeceased by his siblings Hubertus, Frans, Peter, Rina, and Joop.

He will be dearly missed by his life and dancing partner, Terry Failla, with whom he shared a deep passion for ballroom dancing. Even at the age of 93, Anthony continued to dance just two weeks before his passing, a testament to his enduring love for the art and his boundless energy.

Above all, Anthony's greatest pride was his family. He was a devoted father to George (Elaine), Carlo (Nancy, predeceased), Chalita DeGiosa (Tony), Cora Albert (Allan, both predeceased), and Larry (predeceased). He cherished his role as a grandfather to Alitsha Coolman (Ted), Meaghan Kuzniak (Todd), Jamie Albert (Leah), Courtney Albert (Reid), Logan (Kerry), Jessie Albert (Jessica), Sonny DeGiosa, and Tyler DeGiosa. His legacy lives on through his great-grandchildren: Dorian, Taye, Bella, Alex, Brittin, Denver, Josh, Becca, Logan, Jemma, Logan, Baylee, Elliott, Amelia, Collin, and Maddie.

Anthony's love for life was matched only by his passion for the things that brought him joy. He was an avid sailor, always drawn to the open waters, and enjoyed many adventures on the sea. He also found great happiness in traveling, basking in the warmth of the sun, and spending his winters in Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that those wishing to make a memorial donation consider the Down Syndrome Association of Sudbury (dsas.ca), in honor of Anthony's deep love for his grandson Sonny. Arrangements entrusted to Ranger’s Cremation and Burial Services.

  1. We enjoyed dancing alongside Tony and Terry every week at the Minnow Lake Legion. They were an inspiration to us. We often talked and joked with them on the dance floor. We’ll miss them every Tuesday. Victor John played Tony’s perennial request “I have a dream” in his honour this past Tuesday.
