Andrews, Tanis

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Tanis Andrews on October 7, 2024, at the age of 34 yrs. She passed at Health Sciences North in Sudbury with her family by her side after a long courageous battle with cancer. Loving daughter of Sandra Wing (Gary) and Rob Andrews (Natailie). She will be sadly missed by her sisters Linda Galon (Jacob), Jordan Andrews, Melissa Wing (Antonio), Kaitlyn Antoniazzi (Andrew) and her many aunts and uncles. Tanis herself was an aunt to Rosa (Melissa)

Nothing made Tanis happier than her dogs Gracie and Duke as well as her cats London and Diamond who are all staying in the family. She was a nurse for 10 years ending her career as a proud member of the HSN’s medical float team.  If she wasn’t hiking with her dogs or baking, she was travelling with her sister or snuggling up with a good book on a rainy day.

A Celebration of Life will take place Friday October 11, 2024, from 11 – 2 at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 564; 2200 Long Lake Rd Sudbury.

The family will also be hosting a service in their hometown of Thunder Bay, time and date will be announced at a later date.

Donations can be made directly to Health Sciences North Foundation (Northern Cancer Fund) https://hsnfoundation.com/donate/ or Sicks Kids Hospital https://www.sickkidsfoundation.com/.

  1. I never had the pleasure of knowing Tanis but I would like to express my condolences to all her family and friends. I have known Rob for many years through our work and doing training with him. I have battled with cancer 3 times and I know the toll it can take on family and friends. There is really nothing I can say to help with your grieving but I know you will never forget the memories you have of Tanis and will cherish them forever.. Sending my thoughts and prayers to you all.

  2. First I’d like to say my condolences to everyone impacted of Tanis’ passing.
Second I’d like to repeat everything everyone has already said. Tanis was an amazing nurse. She truly had a passion. She cared for her patients and her colleagues. I especially appreciate the times she’d laugh at my corny jokes when everyone else groaned.
Tanis I’m so happy to have met you at PM and much more frequently at HSN as part of the float crew. You will be and are already missed. You earned those wings and peace girl. I didn’t know how hard your passing would hit me, until it’s someone you interacted with frequently. I know our time known wasn’t long, but it was long enough to make an impact when your presence is no longer here. From family , friends, best friends and acquaintances, you will always be missed Tanis.

  3. Condolences from my heart.
Tanis was only in my life for a few short years. Just a young teenager getting ready for more life and she wanted to be a nurse even back then I’m so happy she lived her dream and so happy to read
about how she touched people’s lives with her career and the friends she met on the way.
    A special young lady
Her life was far too short and there are no words that will console those closest to her in these next days.
But my thoughts energy and prayers are with you.

  10. It’s never easy to say goodbye to someone, I find it especially harder when they are so young. Tanis was a breath of fresh air, every shift I worked with her I knew it was going to be a good day. Tanis had a contagious laugh,a whitty sense of humour, and saying she was a fantastic nurse is an understatement. She enjoyed the simple things in life, was honest, loved to baked and her cookies were damn good!, she loved to garden, and when she wasn’t doing these things she was always enjoying the outdoors with her friends and fur babies. Tanis, life isn’t fair you were taken away far too soon and had so much more life to experience and so much love to give. The time you were here however, you definitely lived life to its fullest. I am so deeply sorry for her family, work family, and friends near and far for this terrible loss. The world is a little less brighter without you Tanis Andrews, may you rest in peace, and dance among the stars.

  11. My sincere condolences to Tanis’ family and friends ❤️
I had the pleasure of meeting and working with Tanis at Pioneer Manor. The dedication and love she had for nursing shone through when caring and advocating for her residents.
Tanis often spoke of her parents and her sisters with me. Always sharing pictures and stories of her trips back home.
Her animals were her babies, and we often shared pictures with one another of the silly things our pets would get up to!
The day came when Tanis took a job at HSN, and as sad as I was to see her go, I knew she would flourish in her new adventure.
To say the passing of Tanis was heartbreaking to hear is an understatement. She has left wonderful memories in the hearts of so many❤️

  13. I just want to start by saying how sorry I am for your loss. Tanis was a dear good friend of mine when I met her at Pioneer Manor. From there we’ve talked every day for the last several years, mostly bonding over our identical looking German Shepherds. We also worked together on Medical Float all these years. Tanis was a truly wonderful friend, always there to lend an ear to talk to, or just talk about dogs 🙂
