The family announces with great sorrow the passing of Winnifred (Winnie) Anne Black (née Doré). Winnie passed away peacefully surrounded by her children and family on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at the age of 82 years.
Winnie is predeceased by her husband Robert and missed by her children, Darrin (Merci Miron-Black), and David (Ginette Gervais-Black), her granddaughters Rebecca (Reinhardt) Grobler and Holly (Seagram) Carriére and her many “fur grand babies” whom she doted on; Bear, Bailey, Sasha, Duchess, Tilly, Jack, Pekoe, Thor, Ozzy and Buster.
Loving sister of Patrick Dore(predeceased)
She was a good friend to Diane Gervais.
She was born in Sudbury on April 10, 1942, to Fred Beauchamp and Gertrude Doré (both predeceased). She grew up in Garson and moved to Sudbury, where she began her career in the banking and insurance industry. Working at Tri-State financial, Gougeon Insurance and finishing her career at Canada Trust.
Mom cherished her house of 44 years on Maple Street in the West End of Sudbury.
Her immaculate gardens and flowers were her pride and joy.
Even after she moved to the Birch Glen Apartments in 2021, she still referred to 478 Maple Street as her house/Home.
The band Journey has lost one of their biggest fans.
Mom loved Steve Perry’s voice and all the journey songs he sang.
There will be a Celebration of Life to follow in the Spring of 2025.
David, so sorry to hear about the loss of your mom. She was a lovely lady.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.

In 1968 and 1969 I had the pleasure of working with Winnie at Cochrane’s on Durham St in Sudbury. Although I was a student working part time I learned so much about accounts receivable and payable from her She was a very patient teacher and I did look up to her as a mentor. Deepest sympathy to all the Black family

Mrs. Black was a tough lady who loved her boys. She had a wonderful laugh and made the best pizza in Sudbury. Everyone lucky enough to know her will miss her. Our deepest condolences.
