August 4, 1956 – November 22, 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce Rita Blacklock passed away peacefully at home with her family on November 22, 2024, at the age of 68. Rita was born in Grand Falls, Newfoundland. She is predeceased by her parents William and Priscilla (nee-Collins) White.
Rita moved to Sudbury, Ontario with her sister, Pearl and brother-in-law, Lloyd when she was a teenager. She grew up with her 3 nephews Junior, Barry and Scott. Who were more like brothers than nephews. She was a dedicated wife to her beloved husband of 50 years, Richard Blacklock (predeceased). Rita leaves behind her two loving daughters Tammy Bedard (Paul) of Hanmer and Tracy Baillargeon (Jack) of Garson. Rita was a grandmother of twelve and will be remembered by Emily, Allyssa, and Ryan Plante, Devin, Braeden, Sebastian, and Abigail Bedard, Austin and Braydon Karau, Willow, Faith and Kayla Baillargeon (Nate) and her two great grand children, Addilynn and Jaxson. Rita will be sadly missed by her little shadow, Joey. She loved that dog. Not to mention all her pets she had through out her life.
Rita is survived by her brothers Clayton White (Betty) of Alberta, Howard White (Irene, predeceased) of Alberta, Kurl White of Alberta, and Randy White of Alberta. She is survived by her sisters Linda Cramm (Herb, predeceased) of New Brunswick and Geraldine Blackler (Don) of Newfoundland.
Rita is predeceased by her brothers Eli White, Cecil White (Mamie), Frank White (Patricia), Raymond White (Joyce) and her sisters Pearl Rideout (Lloyd) and Mable Sweeney (Ed). She will be remembered by many nieces and nephews.
Rita found joy in the simple things in life. She loved receiving homemade gifts and cards from the grandchildren and she would take pride in preserving those little moments in time. She loved to play cards, knit, and be with her family. When Rita wasn’t busy cooking her famous stews and sauces or baking, she would find enjoyment playing Bingo. Whether it be with someone or by herself, there was no stopping her from going.
Our Family would like to thank the team of professionals at Maison McCulloch Hospice for all their care and efforts in making it possible for having mom home with us in the end, where she wanted to be.
Rest in Peace Rita.
You will forever be in our hearts.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made directly to the Maison McCulloch Hospice https://maisonsudburyhospice.org. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
