It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Marie-Jeanne Boissonneault (MJ) aka Mémé at the age of 88, at Pioneer Manor on October 13th, 2021. She is survived by her beloved daughter Anne (Tom), predeceased by her son Roland in 1988. Beloved Mémé of Courtney (Andrew), Cassandra (Kareem), Karlee, Andrew (Amelia), and Erica (Matthew). She was also blessed with six great-grandchildren Ernie, Gloria, Marjorie, Ellie, Hayley and Liam. Dear sister to Jean (Noella), predeceased by parents Jean-Albert and Eva, brothers Armand, Rene (Laurianne), Marcel, and sister Bernadette (Earnest). She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and friends. Born in Timmins, ON in 1932, she moved to Sudbury in 1997 to be closer to her daughter & her family. An absolute gem, her beautiful smile and selfless spirit landed her in the hearts of many. The tiny woman with the giant heart, she left big shoes to fill in showing others kindness. She was known for her homemade bread, which easily became everyone’s favorite. Her pie dough and pineapple square were also signature items. A recognized volunteer in her community, she was always willing to lend a hand, whether it was at The Alzheimer's Society Day program ‘helping them cook’, or folding towels at Pioneer Manor after becoming a resident. Mémé had her own way of making people feel special, always remembering to call on their birthday or gifting them her crocheted blankets. Her biggest vice was splurging on scratch tickets with the hope of winning big to keep half and give the rest away. Her idea of swearing was her favourite phrase ‘sac à papier’. A small, assorted sub, a plain old-fashioned donut, and a Tim’s coffee were some of her favourites. She loved large, lived simply, and gave generously. A true legend forever remembered and forever missed. May our love carry you all the way home.
