Bossé, Isabel (née Michaud)

It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Isabel Bossé (née Michaud) on August 18, 2024, at Health Sciences North in Sudbury. She was 91.

Isabel was born in Chelmsford on July 28, 1933, to Gertrude Christink and Harvey Michaud, of whom she spoke fondly. She married Thomas Patrick Scott, a veteran of the Korean War. Together they moved to Germany in the ‘50s where they had a child, Susan. After Tommy’s sudden death in 1956, Isabel remarried in 1958 to Emile Leo Bossé; they had two children, Jim (Suzanne) and Cathy (Ben). Emile died in 1979.

Loving grandmother to Eric (Katie), Joel (Sara), Amanda (Andrew), and Renée, and great-grandmother (“Gigi”) to Lina and Dana. She was predeceased by her siblings George, Mae, and Leonard. Survived by her sisters Irene of Toronto and Patricia of Sudbury, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

For years she was employed as a sales rep at Kresge’s, and later at Sears, where she was admired for her friendliness and vigour. In retirement she volunteered in the kitchen at The Parkside Centre for Older Adults in Sudbury.

Isabel enjoyed gardening, reading, donating her knitting, winning big at the casino, and cheering on the Blue Jays. In her prime she danced and sang along to Elvis and Roy Orbison. She loved a good joke. She was good-looking. She was fun.

Widowed twice by age 46, Isabel was no stranger to difficulty and loss. Yet she showed tenacity, independence, and a dedication to those she loved. In spite of the trials she faced at times throughout her long life, Isabel raised a family, doted on her grandchildren, and helped her neighbours. And she did it all with courage and kindness.

Deeply she was loved, and deeply she will be missed.

The family extends its gratitude to the PSWs and staff at Finlandia Village, and to the nurses from Home Community Care for their compassion and support.

In lieu of flowers, donations directly to the Sudbury Food Bank are appreciated.

As per her wishes, there will be no funeral visitation or service. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.

  1. RIP SWEET ISABEL.
My kids and I are deeply touched by this news. She was a generous and gracious woman.
To you Susan, Jimmy and Cathy, you will miss her presence but she will always be there in your heart. I personally seem to talk to Gérard more now than ever since he left cause he can’t argue with me no more.
To you all beautiful grandchildren that she adored, my deepest sympathies. May you always be blessed for having known her.
You are all in my prayers!
    Aunt Yvette
