Boulanger, Jean-Marc

(April 12, 1937 - November 3, 2024)

Jean-Marc (John), 87 years of age, passed away peacefully with his wife Estelle by his side on Sunday, November 3, 2024 in Sudbury, ON Canada.

John was the beloved husband to Estelle Boulanger (Malette), loving father to David (Mary-Lou), Lianne and predeceased by his son Daniel (Danny). Pseudo dad to Jennifer and Shannon McLean. Cherished grandfather (Papa John) to Cheyenne, Eve, Annique, Bailey, Avyan and Cash.

Jean-Marc was predeceased by parents Alfred and Marie-Reine Boulanger, siblings Ronald (Joyce) both predeceased, Roger - predeceased (Ella), Gisele (Laurent) both predeceased, Adrien, and Jocelyne predeceased (Mike).

He will be a greatly missed brother to his large family of siblings Yvette (Claude predeceased), Carmen (Oscar), Laurette (Leo predeceased), Gabby (Doreen), Isabelle (George), Ginette (Johnny), and Michel (Micheline).

Mon oncle Jean-Marc (John) to his nieces and nephews.

He will also be greatly missed by his in-laws Gisele and John Arlt, Pauline and Bill Montgomery.

John’s journey took him from the small town of Hearst in Northern Ontario to Sudbury and then onto North Bay where he met the mother of his three children. He lived, thrived, worked, and owned his own business for many years in North Bay continuing to make life-long connections.

When he eventually made his way back to Sudbury, working in his area of expertise, industrial trade sales, he met and married his beloved wife Estelle Boulanger (Malette). They eventually retired together and enjoyed their days both in the city and at their camp on Lake Wahnapitae.

He could be described as larger than life with a joie de vivre. He was an amazing father, husband, mentor, friend, an entrepreneur, an inventor, a salesman, a risk-taker, a chef, a doer, Curler, a comedian, HAB’s fan, a world traveler, and a warm friendly hug in times of need. He touched so many lives and was a Lifestyle Hunter leaving a mark on all the paths he crossed.

Throughout his battle after his stroke in 2017 he remained positive, strong, receptive and his beautiful smile could still light up a room. He enjoyed the occasional brewski and loved sitting in the park with the sunshine on his face.

It was his time to leave us with his blessing and on his terms. We can find comfort in knowing we were absolutely blessed to have him in our lives, and we know he is free to roam again in the great outdoors where he loved living life. His departure will leave a void in our lives, but we remain committed to enjoy every single day as he smiles down on us. Until we meet again, forever in our hearts.

We are most grateful for Mariola Pakula and family, as well as Goshenite Senior Services for all of those compassionate and caring years provided for Jean-Marc.

A Celebration of his wonderful Life will be held in Sudbury in the Summer 2025.

As an expression of sympathy, donations can be made directly to the Alzheimer Society in Jean-Marc's memory would be gratefully appreciated.
