Buckles, Richard (Dick)

September 01, 1930 - November 24, 2024

On Sunday November 24, 2024 Richard (Dick) Buckles passed away at the Pioneer Manor in Sudbury, ON at the age of 94.

Predeceased by his loving wife Mary Buckles (nee Nodwell in 2020) brother Robert Buckles, sisters Nancy Couch and Alberta Leitch and his eldest grandson Jordon Klym.

He is survived by his 4 daughters Kay Storey (Bob), Susan Klym (Eugene), Carol Rigg (Albert) and Patricia Vezina (Steve) as well as his 10 dearly loved grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.  

Dick was born on September 01, 1930in Youngstown Ohio.  He spent his childhood in South Bend Indiana, Youngstown, Toronto and eventually on a farm in Erin Township. He met his wife Mary who he married in 1952 and began dairy farming in Hillsburg, ON.  In 1968 they moved with their 4 daughters to Cochrane, ON where they kept busy on their beef farm in Glackmeyer Township, a rural mail contract and inside postal work.  In 2014 Dick and Mary moved to Sudbury to be near family.

Dick enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends including baseball buddies, American cousins, brothers, sisters and especially his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He and Mary enjoyed travelling Canada from the east coast to the west coast and north to Alaska visiting many Provincial Parks along the way.

    I was interested to read that your parents had postal jobs as well as running a farm. Both very hard work.
    My mother, Beryl, remembers the visit to Cochrane.
