It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Walter Byrko, age 85 years on April 11, 2022, at Health Sciences North, Sudbury with his family by his side.
He will be forever missed by his wife Rose of 61 years, children Allen (Nadia), Terry (Gary) and Pam, as well as grandchildren Kaitlyn, Ashley and Brady.
Predeceased by his parents Dymetro and Ann, brothers Bill, John, Peter, Harry, Nick and sisters Mary, Nellie, Barbara, Edna, and Elizabeth, with one surviving sister, Shirley Kinnis (Bill) of Fort St John, B.C.
Walter was born September 10, 1936, in Grandview, Manitoba to Dymetro and Ann (nee Burdeniuk) Byrko. His early years were spent working on his family farm, and in 1960 married Rose and moved to Sudbury, ON where he started working at Inco. His career as a maintenance mechanic lasted 30 years.
In 1970, Walter and his wife bought a home on McCharles Lake Road where he spent many hours in his garage changing motors, doing repairs, spending time with family, and welcoming all who visited.
Walter will always be remembered as a hardworking, kind, patient, gentle man with a love for jokes and pranks.
A Celebration of Walter’s Life will be held at a later date.
He will be forever missed.
