Lorraine Mary Geraghty, nee Gallagher, of Sudbury, Ontario, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2024. Born in Sudbury on September 23, 1936, she was the second of four children born to Pat and Irene Gallagher (both pre-deceased) along with sister Patricia Saunders (John) (both pre-deceased), Maureen Racicot (Brian pre-deceased) and Jack Gallagher (Nancy pre-deceased) of Sudbury.
Lorraine married the love of her life, Pat Geraghty, on August 10, 1955, and together they embarked on a journey filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. Lorraine was a loving wife who stood by Pat's side through every joy and challenge. Pat and Lorraine enjoyed making music together, square dancing with friends and travelling to visit family in Pat’s homeland of Ireland.
Identifying strongly as a mother, Lorraine poured her heart and soul into raising her four children, Michael Geraghty (Lulu), Kevin Geraghty (Nicole), Colleen Strange (Wil), and Sheila Geraghty-Grech (Rob). Her devotion to her children knew no bounds, and she took immense pride in their accomplishments and the successful individuals they became.
Lorraine was a doting grandmother to Lindsay, Alison, Benjamin, Mathew, Wil, Kyle (pre-deceased), Drew, Sean, Caitlin, and Isabella, and a cherished great-grandmother to Zander, Ryder, Savanna, Greyson, Noah, Jordan, Ireland, Kali and Kenzie. She treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, showering them with love and affection.
A creative spirit, Lorraine was known for her remarkable talent in sewing and knitting. She poured her creativity into countless projects, each one a testament to her skill and passion. Lorraine shared her love for crafting with her family and close friends and all cherish her ‘Made With Love By Gramma’ branded clothing.
Lorraine’s love of babies and young chiIdren was central to her identity and while she was raising her family, Lorraine & Pat were foster parents to a several young children.
Throughout her life, Lorraine's kindness and generosity touched the lives of all who knew her. She will be remembered for her unwavering love of family, her gentle spirit, and the love she so freely gave to those around her. When her children were successfully raised, she contributed her talent and passion to the Sudbury Credit Union as the Head Teller at the Copper Cliff branch. During her retirement years she gave generously of her time and passion as a volunteer at the Parkside Senior Centre in Sudbury.
Although Lorraine's physical presence will be deeply missed, her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were touched by her love and compassion. May her memory be a blessing and may she rest in eternal peace.
Pat lives at the family home in Copper Cliff and will miss her deeply.

A Celebration of Life at their home has been arranged for friends and family on Saturday, March 16, 2024. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Lorraine’s name to the ALS Society.
