Peacefully and surrounded by loved ones, Gordon (Gord) Heale passed away on May 12, 2024 at the age of 96 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Michael (Jo Ann), Terry (Bob Woodrow) and Tim; grandchildren, Amanda (Tommy Gelbman), Joseph (Esti), Liane (Marshall Eidinger), Devon, Kelly, Alison (Alain Bourbonnais) and Billy; great-grandchildren, Hailey, Molly, Daliah, Ben W., Ariela, James, Asher, Izzy, Ben B., Evan, River, Owen, Myah and Leo; and his devoted Personal Support Worker, Lise Menard. Gord was predeceased by his loving wife of 66 years, Lynn Heale (nee Buck), as well as by his parents Albert and Rose Heale (nee Bowen), his brothers George, Jack, Bill, and Lorne and his sister Rosemary Gardner.
Born September 23, 1927 in Copper Cliff, Ontario, Gord was a gifted athlete whose professional hockey career spanned from 1948-1959 and included three years with the Sudbury Wolves. But his family will remember him most fondly as a doting husband, devoted family man, loving documentarian of family life, road tripper, outdoorsman, duct tape-based repairman, maker of the world's best spaghetti and meatballs, and master of the one-liner. Besides his family, Gord was most passionate about his property on Fairbank Lake and sneaking treats to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Until his recent hospitalization, Gord lived independently all his adult life. He was tough as nails and is dearly missed.
At Gord's request, no service will be held. Donations in his honour may be made directly to JumpStart (https://jumpstart.canadiantire.ca/).
