It is with profound sadness, we announce the passing of Derek, a compassionate and dedicated man who meant the world to those who knew him. Taken from us far too soon on March 2nd, 2025 at the age of 51, he leaves behind a legacy of love, warmth, and cherished memories. A kind thank you to the emergency and intensive care staff at health sciences north for the care and warmth they provided to Derek in his final moments.
Derek was, above all, a family man. Nothing brought him greater joy than spending time with his loved ones, whether gathered around the table, sharing stories, or simply enjoying each other's company. His presence was a source of comfort, laughter, and unconditional love.
Beyond his love for family, Derek had a passion for the simple joys in life. He was an avid hockey fan, always eager to watch a game or share his enthusiasm for the sport. He also enjoyed fishing, appreciating the time spent by the water and the thrill of a good catch. Whether on the ice or by the lake, these moments reflected his appreciation for the meaningful and fulfilling aspects of life.
Derek will be deeply missed by his siblings: Linda Gagnon, Diane Desrochers (pre-deceased), Shirley Chartrand, Louise Boisvenue, Henry Desrochers and Dan Desrochers (spouse: Melissa Retty); parents: Orietta Brazeau (pre-deceased), and Andrew Desrochers (pre-deceased); his children/grandchildren: Dara, Liam, Kendra, and Ace; and his many nieces, nephews and cousins. As well as his countless friends and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Though he is no longer with us, his love, laughter, and kindness will live on in our hearts forever.
A Celebration of his Life will be announced at a later date, where family and friends will be welcome to gather, share stories, and honor the incredible man he was.
Rest peacefully, Derek. Your love and warmth will never be forgotten.
To the Desrochers Family: I am so sorry for your loss. I have good memories of Derek when he used to work at the marina. Please accept my condolences.
