Monique passed away on December 2nd, 2024 at Health Sciences North surrounded by her family and friends following a 3-year battle with cancer. Monique will be deeply missed by her husband Rick Weaver, her daughter Stephanie and husband Darryl, her son Matt and husband Dave, her 2 grandchildren, Aiden and Zoey, and her brother Andre and partner Gail, as well as all of her extended family and many friends.
Monique was an inspiration to everyone who met her. She was a fighter with a never-ending positive outlook. She always had a smile for everyone she encountered and cared deeply about them. She loved spending time with family and taught us all how important family is when things get tough. She lived each moment to its fullest. She and Rick had a truly exceptional love and marriage that was evident to all.
Monique loved country music and was the life of the party. She was a big animal lover and will be missed by her pets and grand pets.
The family would like to extend a huge thank you to Dr Lacey Pitre, her oncologist without whom we would not have had as many years with her as we did. The family would like to thank Dr. Pearce who was also instrumental in helping her through her battle as well as Dr Faulk’s office, especially Julianna who called regularly to check up on her. We cannot say enough great things about the entire cancer centre staff. Thank you all for your compassionate care.
Family and friends will be gathering at Rick and Monique’s home (3348 Brenda St, Val Caron) on Saturday, December 7th, 2024 from 2:00pm to 7:00pm. All are welcome to drop in and share their favourite memories of Monique.
Donations can be made directly to the Northern Cancer Fund through the HSN foundation in her name are greatly appreciated (https://hsnfoundation.com/donate/).
Dear Stephanie,
On behalf of the Board of CCN, please accept our deepest condolences for your loss.

I would have said that my mom was the only person I knew that could go somewhere like chemo and make a friend…well, that was until I met Monique. Recognizing a camaraderie in each other im sure, the two became such quick friends. I’m so grateful that our moms brought our families together in such a beautiful way. A gift from them both to us all. When I think of Monique I can’t help but feel lifted by her bubbly and girlish spirit. Her specialness was undeniable. Rest easy, Monique 💛
