August 15, 1948 – May 27, 2023
We are sad to announce the sudden passing of Shirley Newman at her home in Trout Creek, ON. She will now join her beloved parents George Sr. and Valeda (nee Tremblay) Newman. She will be greeted by her best friend, her older brother George “Sonny” Newman (November 2021), who she always loved visiting, sitting next to him on the veranda and swinging away beside him.
She leaves an emptiness in the hearts of her daughters, Laura (Brandon) Dougan of Sudbury and Christine her “Minou” Newman (Aime Bouchard) of Sudbury. Her beloved 6 grandchildren, Nick, Ash, Avery, Liam, Alexander and Zoey. Survived by her siblings Betty (Walter, predeceased) McCray of B.C., Terry (Val) Newman of Sudbury and Sister-In-Law Sadie Newman of Aurora, ON. She will be missed by her Nieces and Nephews, Wendy, Kevin, Jeannie, Jason, Mike and his daughter Ava.
Until her retirement, Shirley devoted her 32-year career at Laurentian University helping students thrive. After her retirement, she was able to spend more time with her cherished grandchildren and made every effort to create a special bond and got to know each of them individually.
At Shirley’s request, there will be no visitation or service.
To Christine and family,
So sorry to hear about the passing of your Mom. Sending love and hugs your way.
