Renaud, Micheline “Mimi”

In Loving Memory of Micheline (Mimi) Renaud

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Micheline "Mimi" Renaud, who peacefully left us on January 13, 2025, at the age of 84, at the HSN AARC Unit. Born on August 12, 1940, in Montreal, Mimi was a loving mother, grandmother, partner, and friend who brightened the lives of everyone around her.

Mimi was predeceased by her mother, Helen Renaud, her sister Louise Nadeau, her son Jean-Paul Lafleur and her partner Frank Vojtesek. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Jeannine Lafleur (Bruno Crispo), Jackie Lafleur (predeceased Mike Swanson), Jimmy Lafleur (Kim Lafleur), her grandchildren Megan Campsall (Ryan Campsall), Katarina Scagnetti (Alan McFadden), Victoria Scagnetti (Michael Land), Johnny Lafleur and her step-grandchildren Natalie Crispo and Joey Crispo. Also missed by her adored grand fur babies Fonzie, Ellie, Harley, Jaegger, and Gracie.

Mimi’s family meant the world to her. She was incredibly proud of her children and grandchildren, and she never missed a chance to tell anyone how much she loved them. Her laughter was infectious, and she had a special gift for making friends wherever she went. Whether chatting with friends on the phone, dancing, or listening to her favorite music (Elvis always), Mimi was always filled with joy and energy.

She had a real passion for crafting—diamond dots, bunka, and scrapbooking were just a few of the things she loved to do in her spare time. She enjoyed going to the YMCA Adult Centre, where she made lasting friendships. Mimi also loved cooking and baking, especially making her famous meat pies. Her love for animals—especially cats, dogs, and horses—was also huge. She treasured spending time outdoors, particularly camping in the summers.

Mimi will be deeply missed by her close friends Linda Vincent, Lori Stoneman, and Carol St. Jaques, who were like family to her.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the amazing team at HSN, especially Dr. Persechino, Dr. Singh, Dr. Clark, and PSW Carol for their compassionate care in her final days. As well, they would like to extend their gratitude to the supportive staff at Finlandia Assisted Living.

Mimi’s spirit will live on in our hearts, and we ask you to remember her by being kind to others and playing Elvis—just the way she would have loved.

If you'd like to offer condolences, please visit https://www.rangerssudbury.com. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Sudbury Food Bank or Pet Save, two causes that were close to Mimi's heart. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.

We will miss you, Mom, but we know you're dancing with Elvis, laughing, and finally reunited with your son Jean-Paul.

  1. Mimi was a wonderful, generous friend and I will miss her greatly. I have special memories of all our visits whether at the apartment at Mapleview, at the Walford or Finlandia. I am especially grateful that I was able to be with her on her last day with Jackie & Jeannine, that she was surrounded by our love & support. Mimi showed great strength no matter what challenges life sent her way and I will always remember that. My deepest sympathies to all the family.

  3. Please accept my most sincere condolences on the passing of Mimi. She was one of a kind. I have twenty-five years of memories of shopping, going out for lunch, visits to our home in Chelmsford and after we moved the many phone calls. She will be in heaven searching for Elvis, her son Johnny and Frank. She will also be hunting down her favourite dessert German Chocolate Cake. I am so happy that I made the trip up to Sudbury to see her in late November. I was heartened at how quickly she took to the cat she called “Lilly”. Bless all of the family for taking such excellent care of her during her lengthy stay in the hospital. I will never forget her laugh, her smile along with her beautiful blue eyes.

  5. Sincere condolences to you all on the loss of Mimi. She had a special place in our hearts. When she was living at the Walford she often tagged along with Noella to outings at our house or to watch us at curling bonspiels. She had the best sense of humour!! She will be missed, especially by Noella. We can’t help but smile when thinking about her. She brought sunshine everywhere she went!!
