Al Secord, age 91, passed away peacefully with his son at his side on Tuesday, December 28th, 2021 at the Espanola Nursing Home. Survived by his wife Mary Anne, son Alan (Tracy) Secord of Dallas and daughter Linda “Sissy” Thibeault of Sudbury. Al is predeceased by his parents Juliette (nee Allard) and Omer Secord. Loved grandfather of Christopher (Dawna) Thibeault of Sudbury, Jay Thibeault (predeceased), Lee Thibeault of London, Andre (Samantha) Thibeault of Lively, Stacey (Derian) Shilleto of London, Ryan (Becky) Secord of Indiana and Alec and Luke Secord both of Dallas. Al’s brother was his best friend Roy, predeceased (Lois) of Kingston, ON and his sister Laura, predeceased (Bob) Ross of Innisfil, ON. Great grandfather of five along with many nieces and nephews.
Al and Mary Anne owned and operated Loon Lake Lodge for 24 years and Secord’s Penalty Box in the Espanola Mall for 21 years.
The family wishes to sincerely thank the staff at the Espanola Nursing Home for their wonderful and outstanding love, care and compassion shown to Al. Also thank you to family friend Dr. Andre Michon, Dr. Knox and Dr. Gill.
A Celebration of Al’s Life will be held at a later date.
My condolences to the Secord Family. As a hockey fan, I first met Mr. Secord and Al in the 80’s, stopping by the store and the lodge on numerous occasions. They were always very cordial and spent hours talking hockey and showing me Mrs. Secord’s paintings and Al’s plane, docked at the lake. I’m sorry to learn of his passing.
