Guenther passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at the age of 92. He is predeceased by his wife Martha (née Penzil). Loving father of Horst-Ulrich (predeceased) (Monique Lapierre), Reinhard (Evelyn) and Marcus. He was the beloved Opa to Lindsey, Trevor (Jamie-Lea), Marissa, Tom (Mandy) and Ilyanna (Josh) and Great Opa to Cameron and JJ. He will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Guenther had a strong faith in God, firmly believing in His teachings. His beliefs were exhibited in his actions of kindness and goodwill towards others, regardless of how one knew him. Though a quiet man, you could still often catch a glimpse of his dry sense of humour and the twinkle in his eye. Guenther was happiest when surrounded by family and friends, especially when celebrating in the presence of the Lord. A Celebration of Life for Guenther will take place at the Valley Pentecostal Church, 231 Martha St in Hanmer on Monday, November 28, 2016 at 11 a.m., family and friends are invited to attend the service and share memories and stories of Guenther’s life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made directly to the Valley Pentecostal Building Fund (cheques only please) or a charity of your choice. The family would like to send a special thank you to Dr. Katie Kauffeldt, the ER staff and the Bayshore nurses and care partners of CCAC.
