It is with extremely heavy hearts that the family announces the sudden passing of Gisèle Smith (née Poulin) on December 21, 2021, at 78 years of age, at Health Sciences North, Sudbury.
She is the daughter of the late Lina (Laurin) and Auguste Poulin, dear sister of Claudette Poulin (lifelong predeceased partner Éliane Mailloux), Jeannine Carrière (husband Léo) both predeceased, and Richard Poulin (wife Claire).
Gisèle leaves behind the love of her life, beloved husband of almost 60 years, Ron Smith, her sons Danny (wife Patty), Bobby (wife Nicole), her daughters Linda Tresidder (husband Dave), Shelley (special friend Matthew & his daughter Mackenzie), as well as her 13 cherished grandchildren, Jessica (husband Joe), Lindsey, Corey (wife Taeko), Brandyn, Jacob (wife Olivia), Andrew, Holly, Alex, Grace, Abby, George, Carter, Colton, and Amy along with her two precious great granddaughters, Quinn and Willow. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
Gisèle had earned her angel wings here on Earth by spreading her special love and her kindest of hearts to her beloved family and so many others along the way. She always had the ability to make others around her feel so special.
Cherished Wife/Mom/Memère/Méma lit every room she walked into, was an endless breath of fresh air, had the softest of souls, and left a lasting heartfelt impression on everyone blessed to be in her presence. Gisèle gave the most comforting hugs and always smelled so amazing. Her skin was flawless & softer than silk, her tenderness and touch were craved and so deeply appreciated.
Her delicious chocolate cake, macaroni salad, spaghetti sauce, tourtière, and endless famous recipes were requested staples at every family function. Her genuine love, thoughtfulness, concern, empathy, soft-spoken and warm personality, along with her relentless strength, perseverance, and resilience, will live on forever in every one of us.
We will always consider her to be the wisest and strongest of women, having provided the best advice and loving support to all of us. Gisèle was thoroughly involved in all her children’s lives by wanting to attend every event and milestone possible. She was such a wonderful role model who lived and taught by example.
Gisèle’s favorite way of relaxing was by listening to music while completing detailed coloring artwork with such precision. Watching Ron and Gisèle dance was a special joy to behold. She took very good care of herself by walking her special route at Science North and the boardwalk. It was always easy to see Gisèle’s natural loving heart, particularly when she helped those who were less fortunate. She had a great sense of humour. One of her great joys was to watch others laugh as she joined in. Gisèle always enjoyed fun-filled game nights.
We adore you dearest Wife/Mom/Memère/Méma of ours! Thank you from the depths of our hearts and souls for all you have been, done, and will continue to do to enrich all our lives forever…we are eternally grateful! We so deeply love and miss you!!!!! Your beautiful light will live on brightly in all of us. Thank you for EVERYTHING!
Rest peacefully our precious angel…’til we meet again!!!
The family would like to extend our sincere thanks to the ER, 7th floor, and ICU staff at HSN for their exceptional care and compassion. We will be announcing a celebration of life and internment details at a later date.

Sending our most heartfelt sympathies and love to the Smith family, but particularly to our beloved friend Shelley. Your Mom welcomed me and the kids like her own from the day we met. Her warmth and kindness will continue to radiate for eternity. This family is her shining legacy, for which we are so very grateful. None of this makes this period any easier I know. But know that you are in our hearts, thoughts and prayers. xox

Our sincerest condolences from our family to yours.
Your mother was a wonderful woman. We would often see Gisele along side her family supporting her grandchildren with their extracurricular activities. While the rest of us would be in track pants, leggings, toques…Gisele was always dressed and coiffed beautifully.
Her presence will be missed in stands/bleachers.
God bless.

I am so sorry for your loss. I worked with Gisele at Laurentian Hospital. She was such a beautiful wonderful person. I read the obituary and you guys nailed it. She was all that and more. She was a walking angel. So kind, passionate and always smiling. I used to see her once in while on the island. I think it was her son who lived here. She will be missed. Hugs to all of you❤️❤️
