It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Giuliano Traverso on Thursday, September 30, 2021, at the age of 77 years old, at his residence. Son of Gino and Teresa Traverso (predeceased). Beloved husband of the late Simone (nee Giroux). Brother to Ico, Carmela and Rina and to 7 siblings predeceased. Will be dearly missed by his family and friends. In the mid 1960’s, Giuliano came to Canada to be with 2 of his brothers in Toronto to start a new chapter of his life. In the 70’s he moved to Sudbury and met his wife to be, Simone. He was a bricklayer from a young age both in Sudbury and in Toronto. He helped build several iconic buildings, including the Skydome and Union Station. He spent the later years of his life at Extendicare York where he was loved by residents and staff. His favorite past time was playing bingo and cards. The highlight of his day was calling his grandkids Valerie and Alex every night to get a Toronto Blue Jay or Toronto Maple Leaf update. He couldn’t wait to see them to give them the chocolate bars that he had won at the bingo. My family would like to say a big thank you to all the staff at Extendicare York. He was truly happy there. We saw the day that he passed that you were suffering his loss as well. He touched everyone’s heart. There will be a small Celebration of Life in the late spring, when he’ll be buried with his wife in River Valley.
We have never known someone to work as hard as Giuliano did. He was a wonderful provider for his family and a wonderful Father. A great brother in law & we are grateful for the good times we had in Oshawa. Gone but never forgotten.
Our heart goes out to Lisa, Luc, Alex & Valerie
