It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of our father Roland Watier, 87 years on Friday, March 8, 2024 at St. Gabriel Villa. Loving father to Clifford Watier (Beverly) of Orleans and Carol Lee Heins (Greg) of Whitefish. Papa to his pride and joy, Blake Watier (Sylvie) of Orleans and Tristan Heins of Whitefish. Son of the late Dassise and Eveline (née Methé) Watier. Dear brother of Jackie Gilmore (predeceased) (Gill), Raymonde Crepeau (Roger predeceased), Richard Watier (predeceased), Constance Dalrymple (Jim), George Watier (Gillian), Aurele Watier (predeceased). Fondly remembered as Uncle Rolly to his many nieces and nephews.
Roland was born on January 28, 1937 in Chelmsford, ON and moved as a young child to Levack. He worked for the Town of Levack, (Town of Onaping Falls), for 37 years. He took great pride in his work as a Machine Operator / Foreman, spending many late nights snowplowing the roads of the town he loved.
Some of his greatest joys in life came from spending quality time with family and friends, whether boating and fishing on Windy Lake, gathering on Manitoulin Island or just pursuing his hobby of woodworking.
The family would like to thank the staff at St. Gabriel Villa for their care provided to Rolly over the past 5 years.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Bartholomew Church, 30 Church St., Levack on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at 11:00a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Roland’s memory can be made directly to SickKids would be greatly appreciated.
It’s with great sadness that we just learned of Rolly’s passing.
Our heartfelt condolences to the family.
We were fortunate to have many great adventures with Rolly.
Much love
